Part time bookkeeper from home12/13/2023 I don’t intend on getting a CPA nor taking any more college courses, but will commit to online resources such as bookkeepers launch. With that being said, is starting up a small bookkeeping business doable, let alone worth it given my background and interests? My 9-5 is quite flexible and I’m already used to spending a few extra hours a day toward other stuff on top of work (I did my masters while working 9-5). I studied economics in college and almost went down the accounting path before I decided to switch into tech. I also want to channel my inner entrepreneurial spirit by going down this business/freelance route. For me, I’d rather spend off hours doing something in an unrelated field and satisfy another curiosity of mine while making a few extra bucks here and there. Typically, people in my field either do some freelance tech consulting, web development, or just personal app projects since it’s more lucrative and/or it polishes their skills for their day job. I currently work full-time from home as a software engineer for a mid-sized tech company and have been doing extensive research on side hustles/other ways to make a little extra cash.
